Day 1–2: Arrive + recover from travel
The best trips don’t start with a 6-hour drive after landing. If your flight arrives late, plan a simple first night with good food and a comfortable room.
Use Day 2 to ease into Sri Lanka—light sightseeing, a market stroll, and an early night.
Day 3–5: Cultural triangle base (with early starts)
Base yourself for 2–3 nights so you’re not packing daily. Early mornings are your secret weapon for climbs and heritage sites—cooler temperatures and fewer crowds.
Keep afternoons gentle: pool time, a relaxed village stop, or sunset viewpoints.
- Plan sunrise climbs once, not every day
- Choose a hotel with easy logistics (parking, breakfast timing, quick exits)
Day 6–8: Kandy + tea hills
Kandy is a great ‘bridge’ between culture and hills. Then move into the cooler tea country for waterfalls, estate views, and slow evenings.
Don’t over-pack activities here—tea country is about mood as much as sightseeing.
Day 9: Scenic train day (plan ahead)
The scenic train is one of the best moments in Sri Lanka. Ticket availability changes by season, so lock it in early if it matters to you.
We usually recommend keeping this day simple: train + check-in + sunset viewpoint or café.
Day 10–12: South coast + Galle Fort finish
End with two slower coastal days. Add Galle Fort for a stylish evening walk, boutique shopping, and an easy airport run on departure day.
If your travel month fits the east coast better, swap the beach region—same rhythm, different shoreline.
- Keep the last day low-stress for your flight
- Choose a beach hotel with shade and good food (it matters more than you think)
