Why it matters
People sometimes judge Sri Lanka’s beaches by visiting the ‘wrong’ coast for the season. With a small routing change, your beach days can feel completely different.
South & west coast (typically Dec–Apr)
Great for a classic finish with fort-town evenings and easy access from the airport.
East coast (typically May–Sep)
Perfect when you want calmer seas mid-year and a more spacious coastal feel.
What we do in shoulder months
Shoulder months can still be excellent—just keep one flexible beach day and choose hotels with comfortable indoor spaces.
- Prioritize great breakfasts and views
- Add Galle Fort / cultural stops as backups
- Keep transfers comfortable and not rushed
